Yalda Night or Cheleh Night ( Shab-e-Chelle )

Yalda means birth. Birthday night of Mitra or Mehr Goddess, which Mehr in Avesta and Zoroastrianism means the sun. it is 7,000 years old. They call this night, Chelleh, because from Dec 20th to Jan 30th which is Sade celebration,40 days of cold weather passed and after that the weather warms up.

Ancient Iran celebration where people celebrate and spend the last night of autumn.

Its longest and darkest night of a year, from that time onwards, the nights become shorter and the days get longer.

On this night in ancient Iran, as well as today, all family members and friends gather together and celebrate the night by telling stories, read Hafez poet, drink and eat watermelon, pomegranate, nuts, sweets and fruits to spend the night.
